Just took my TEAS and scored...

U.S.A. California

I took my TEAS exam Friday and just got the results, I scored an 85. It is a decent score, it puts my in the 95th percentile but I am wondering if it would be better for me to retake the exam and possibly score higher. Are there any down sides for retaking the exam?

I am planning on applying to mostly California State schools and a few out of state. I have had to retake a few prereq classes so I am wondering if scoring really high would make for that. My goal is to get at least a 92.

Any thoughts?

As far as I know...there shouldn't be an issue with retaking the teas...but keep in mind that they'll only take your 1st teas score that you took in the past 12 mos. (so if you retake it, make sure it's after the 12 mos so they can count your retake score)

If it's shorter than the 12 mo period they'll still only use your first test score for your application :)

I can't speak on behalf of the cal state school BSN programs. But I got in to 3 CA ADN programs and only scored a 74.7% on my first attempt ...although only one program was requiring the teas score on the actual application to get in (the others were expecting you to take it once you already were given acceptance)

Not sure if I was of any help to your specific question...but good luck either way :)

Every program, even within the CSU system, looks at repeated attempts differently. Do your research about their TEAS repeat policies- some schools don't allow them, and won't consider you, even if you did well the first time you took it. Depending on your GPA, you may be fine with that. I say apply everywhere you're considering, and see what happens.
