There are several ways to get your CNA.

You can go to your community college and fork out $500+ bucks and it takes about 6 months to complete.

Or you can call the HR department of local hospitals and ask if they have CNA training programs.

I am doing the latter and they are paying me while they train me. The training is 8:30-3:00 M-F for 5 weeks. My class is starting January 9th. Nursing school for me starts January 16th (evening program). That's the only tough thing, that I'll be doing both at the same time. But I have the majority of my pre-req's out of the way so I'll just be taking the first nursing course that semester.

well there are a couple ways to do this

you can either go through a vocational school and have the training and classes it's not that expensive but not cheap either or you can look in your surrounding area and see if a hosp or nursing home is offering a training course and more often than not they pay you as you go kind of on the job training classroom atmosphere but with actual people to participate with. I mostly find this in nursing homes though they usually like you already trained for the hospitals.

this is from experience of where im at, they do the on the job training and may also benefit you because if your not to sure this is what you want to do then you do not have pay the money to find out

there is a lot of lifting when it comes to the older people because they can not stand or walk alone for the most part occasionally some do

you would be the primary person for the personal cleaning and needs of the person also the nurses will do the other things as in give meds etc. but always remember its a group effort anything that you may need help with or not understand there will be someone there to help you out that' s a plus side to it also

well i hope this gives you some hind sight on what to do and good luck, I started out as an aide before becoming a nurse I have actually been an aide longer than the nurse at this point still

It's hard work but enjoyable at the same time you actually have more time to spend with the pt.s

i hope I helped good luck
