Just wanted to share my excitement!! I've been an RN on the Mother Baby Unit at my local teaching hospital for almost 2 years, but ever since I started nursing school, I've wanted to be a PICU nurse. I interviewed with the Unit Director in March and didn't get the job, due to other PICU-experienced RN's being hired. Being persistent, I interviewed again last week. GOD IS GOOD, because I finally got hired and will start in a couple weeks!!! My nursing dream is complete, and I'm super-excited to see how the Lord will use me in PICU!!! :redbeathe

Congratulations on your transfer today into PICU, I too am trying my best to get a position at our Children's Hospital (although my heart is in NICU), but times are very hard for new grads at the moment. However, I am still keeping the FAITH that I will be blessed with this peds CVICU position I applied for recently.
I'm sure with your compassion and dedication, you will do just fine, I am so happy for you....wishing you all the best. Be blessed:heartbeat
Thank you so much, 2Nurture1! I just finished my last day on MBU yesterday and will be starting in PICU on Wed. I'm just as nervous, as I am excited! I will have a LOT to learn and am expecting to have that drowning/overwhelmed feeling for quite a while, but I plan on being a PICU RN for the rest of my career. So, I'm diving in with full force. :redpinkhe

Thanks, Aimee!! :)
Well, I survived my first week of orientation in PICU (11 more to go)!! Even though I've been an RN for almost 2 years, I honestly feel like a new grad all over again! I have learned more this week than I have since nursing school!! I'm a tad overwhelmed but extremely determined to stay in PICU for a very, very long time. Maybe only other former Mother Baby nurses can relate to this, but I'm SO glad to have ONLY peds patients now!
