A couple hours ago I checked the mail to find a letter from the California BVNPT telling me the best news: I have officially passed the NCLEX PN!! Yaaay!! All the hard work has paid off and I'm officially a licensed nurse Except the fact I don't have my license yet. However, on my candidate report there are a couple numbers which I'm thinking may be my license number. One is the 8 digit candidate number. The other is a 5 digit number handwritten int he top right corner. Can anyone help me out with this por favor? I'd like to include my license number in my resume and I really want to start looking for a job ASAP. Thank you in advance :loveya:

You're so lucky that your state still issues out cards. In 2009, Oregon stopped issuing out cards. So depressing, now we have to go online from the Oregon State Board of Nursing site and print off our license number. Ugh.
I hope that you get your card soon! Happy job hunting. May your job search be a short one.

Your card should be arriving soon. Go on line and see if your name is listed; if so, it will have your # that will look like this:
VN _ _ _ _ _ _

Will it be six digits? I guess I am just excited and want to include it on my resume for my job hunt. 1

theleaf,
When I received my letter, I also had a six digit number written at the top. Initially I thought it was going to be my license number, but when I received my card I found that the numbers did not match at all.
Keep checking the bvnpt and congratulation once again!
Glenna, what difference does it make whether your license is 6 digits or 100. All you need is that little plastic card that you will keep will you all the time. Your license is your own; you worked for it. I would never put my license number on my resume, but it's your resume.
I think you have me confused for theleaf. I wasn't talking about putting my license number on my resume/how many digits are in my license number. I was just making a comment how Oregon stopped issuing out cards in 2009 and how we have to print it off the OSBN website. That's all.

Glenna you are right, I should have sent my response about not putting her Calif LVN license # on her resume to theleaf. Sorry.

Don't EVER put your license number on your resume.
