We get 8-12 hours per week average (at least Junior year, going into my Senior year). Usually either a 12 hour day 1 day a week or 1 day and a 1/2 day. I'm not sure how I would accomplish more than that, I have class M-W all day, study M, T, F evenings, do pre-clinical work W/Th evening, and study all day Sat and usually 1/2 of Sun...
We have had only 1 patient per shift assigned so far, but next semester we will have 2 and by the end of our last semester we will have 4.
During Capstone (last 1/2 of last semester) we will work 40 hours per week for 8 weeks being mentored by an RN in either MedSurg or another specialty floor.

I've seen several posts lately where there is only 1 clinical day per week, and it has me wondering how many clinical hours, on average, most students get in the hospital. I know that my program gets more than the local university, but I assumed they were the exception. Now I'm wondering if my school just offers more than normal?
For example, 1st semester, we did 10 weeks of clinical with 2 7-hour days each week (7am-2pm) = 14 hours a week = 140 for the semester.
2nd semester, we did 15 weeks of clinical, 2 10-hour days each week (6am-4pm) = 20 hours per week = 300 hours/semester
3rd semester, we did 2 13-hour shifts each week (6am-7pm) = 26 hours = 390 hours/semester
I don't have my clinical schedule yet for 4th (start in 3 weeks), but I'm guessing it will be similar to 3rd semester.
So, how much time to y'all get? And how many patients are you assigned each shift?
