JTCC General Question

U.S.A. Virginia

I am a current student at JTCC and have a quick question for someone already in the nursing program. I think I will have everything I need to apply for a Spring 2012 admission and am wondering once you start the program is it 4 semesters from start to finish? Do they have nursing classes available during the summer semester? Or is it only Spring/Fall classes? Thanks for the input!

Prior to application you should have completed what they consider "Semester 1" which is BIO 141, Math 120, Eng 111, Psy 230 and SDV 100. Once accepted, there are only 3 semesters left and they do not offer nursing classes during the summer. You can use the summer sessions to take things like the ITE, HLT, and SOC requirement if you havent already. PLEASE NOTE: The Biology requirements will change effective Fall 2011 and BIO 141/142 will no longer be accepted. I believe the new course required is BIO 230 (or close).

Thanks for the info regarding summers. I will have all of my pre and co-req's by the time I apply for Spring 2012 but hadn't heard anything about changing BIO's - there is nothing posted on the website and they currently don't offer the BIO 231/232 combo. So does this mean that if we've already gotten BIO 141/142 they will not accept it at all? I'm assuming you heard this through a information session??

Yes, I went to the Info Session in early December and this was discussed. I am amazed nothing has been put out on the nursing program website! Have you been given a nursing program advisor? My advice is to email them ASAP, this is a very big change and there is a ton of confusion surrounding it. Good luck!

Sarakaut,

Thanks again for the information. I did email my advisor and you are so right. Unfortunately I was at a information session in the summer and that was NOT discussed. I guess I'm just so surprised because they aren't even offering those course this semester so in order to have them for the Spring I will have to take both 231 and 232 this summer (two 5 week courses)....not what I wanted to do. Oh well. Thanks again!
