Hi there! I recently applied to John Tyler Community College for the Fall 2021 semester's nursing program. I'm curious if anyone can give me any tips or advice.
I have completed all of the prerequisite courses for the program, and am currently taking Microbiology and Eng112. Waiting two months to hear whether or not I got in is going to take a LOT of patience!

Hi,
I also applied for fall 2021. I have completed all my prerequisites, I think that I have a decent GPA, I only got a "B" in BIO 141, but then I have all A's. So far I have completed pretty much all of the corequisites.
The only thing that I'm worried about is my TEAS score, I didn't score as high as I wanted to. Apparently, they rank applicants by TEAS score, I'm not sure if GPA matters as much as the TEAS score.
Can someone clarify that for me, please
If you don't mind me asking, What were your TEAS score and GPA?

Hello! I also applied for the Fall 2021. I think I’ve been told that they rank by TEAS but if it comes down to it they will use GPA to decide between people who scored the same. I’m super worried either way because I’m not even sure if my TEAS is competitive enough. I got an 81.3% overall and 89% percentile rank. I don’t remember which one they use. What did you score if you don’t mind me asking?

Hey! I scored lower on the TEAS than I had hoped. My total score was 78 and percentile was 84. I just realized today that I incorrectly marked a grade on my application. So, I’m hoping that that alone will not disqualify me.? It also brings my GPA down to 3.1. I’m not feeling very confident about being competitive enough for the application process. I’m so ready for decisions to be made. Good luck to everyone!
You guys scored a lot better than I did. My total score was 72, I applied to both tracks I have a 3.71 GPA. It seems impossible for me to get into Fall 2021 with that score since the program it's very competitive and I scored very low on my TEAS test. I was told today that this semester they received a lot more applicants than previous application periods.
Best of luck to everyone!
Did you speak with your advisor to see if they thought your score was within their range of people they accept? I know it changes every year but I wouldn’t feel defeated quite yet because it really depends on the pool of applicants. Your GPA is definitely high.
I wonder if they’ll accept corrections. Do you think it may hurt to try calling? I would think they would be more likely to disqualify you if you lied and put a higher grade than you actually had. Best of luck to you both!
I thought I made an error because I was looking at a transcript from my previous college and got myself mixed up. After checking again before emailing a nursing advisor I realize I only made an error in the class number not the grade itself! Keeps my GPA at 3.36, not very high but fingers crossed it helps.
Kaylee, My cumulative GPA is 3.69, and I was pretty average across the board on my TEAS tests, except for science. Good luck!!
Groxy - good luck!!
I spoke to my advisor, who happens to be my Micro professor, and she had me contact someone else. I was told to go ahead and apply, even though I am outside of the service area now. We recently moved. In the paperwork, it tells you not to call, but I am SO tempted!!
@Smarlatticus good luck!

Following this thread! Also waiting to hear back about fall 2021. In BIO 142 now and taking Micro over the Summer. I’m with you, ready to find out and move on from this waiting period! Like someone else said, I head they weight TEAS scores more then GPA. I guess we shall just have to wait and see...
@Jkbishop13
good luck! Which track did you apply to? Did you apply to any other programs?
@groxy07 Applied hybrid only. Haven’t applied to any other programs. If I don’t get in this go round, I’ll reassess and go from there ?
What about you? And good luck to you as well!
