I'm just curious where everyone works.
My first job was on a med/surg floor that I was Ward Clerk on. I then went on to LTC, did many, many years in floating around ICU, ER, Med/Surg, with L&D, NICU being primary floor. Went back to LTC while doing L&D, NICU and then finally, I am working in Corrections (which is my favorite so far).
Wages have increased through the years. My first job paid $8.73/hr and I took a big paycut to take the corrections job which still pays badly (state job) but I'm obviously not here for the $$$.

Well, like you, I have worked in all areas of the hospital even doing relief charge on postpartum and Psych frequently. I've worked LTC, Home Health, Staff Relief, a prison and physicians offices. But now I am teaching Medical Assisting fulltime and I love it. My main goal is to teach good bedside nursing skills which are important anywhere you may work. And common sense. Its amazing to me how many smart people have so little of that, Anyway, the pay scale isn't too great in the town I live in no matter where you work.

Hi,I work for an agency in New Mexico, sometimes it seems that no one wants the LPN's but then you see ads in the internet and in the paper. I don't want to go back to school as I feel that I am to set in my ways and do not think I could put up with what they are teaching now. I have seen new grads and they don't impress me. I have also worked in my fields and like the acute care clinics or corrections the best. wish LPN's would get more respect though.

I'll tell ya what I haven't done....OB/nursery, OR-and I don't want to. Public health and DON or higher. Don't want to do that either. Have worked in metro Minneapolis and rural MN, along with several hospitals in Vegas.
