Jobs for Puerto Rico Nurses

Published

I'm currently a RN at a federal prison in MCFP Springfield MO, my prior place of employment was at the Butner FCI federal prison in North Carolina. I chose MCFP Springfield for the theme parks nearby, and lower cost of living expenses. Also, the nursing is very easy and low workload compared to hospitals and other prisons. I sit most of the time. And, with 8 hours of overtime per week it ends up being the same pay as Butner or Rochester. The pay is public knowledge: Starting salary is based on the Grade 7 Step 10 if you have superior academic performance of 3.5 GPA or higher. Possible to get higher G/S based on experience up to Grade 10 step 10. The salary range is $80k to $100k. This year I broke above $140k due to the overtime/mandates and I'm just Grade 9 step 6. For Puerto Rico nurses, I know it can be hard to uproot to somewhere else, only at MCFP Springfield can there is housing available at $425 to $525 (private bathroom) per room per month plus 1/5th utilities, with NO PAYMENT until you receive your first check. Couple fee is an extra $200. No pets allowed. Butner, NC or Rochester, MN housing costs well exceed $1100 per month. And due to the overtime availability, you actually earn more at MCFP Springfield or at least I do. Federal law enforcement retirement and health benefits as well.
