jobs in allentown/easton area

Published

my husband and I are buying a house and relocating in a few weeks to allentown/easton area. I am looking for jobs and applied to lehigh valley hospital and got an automatic rejection in the Children's Service Department because I didn't have a yr of acute care pediatrics. I have 9 months of experience in a hospital in postpartum and almost a yr experience in pediatric home health with trach, vents, gtubes, etc. Does ANYBODY have ANY info on ANY jobs that I might qualify for based on my experience??????? I have tried the hospitals (easton hospital, lehigh valley, and St. Luke's) I could not get in touch with nursing recruiter at easton. ANNY info is GREATLLYY appreciated. I have a mortgage to pay and no job there yet and my last day at my current job is in a week!!!!!!

THANKS!

Plenty of jobs but you need to look around. I know people who are communting to LVH and SLH from an hour away. You may need to expand your search beyond the greater Lehigh Valley.

Aside:

Pocono Medical Center has open positions listed. Also Hazleton and Berwick have L&D positions listed.

Best of luck getting into the great ivory tower that is LVH. I graduated last winter and have worked a year in geri-psych at a small community hospital. LVH would not look at a new grad at that time - and now they won't look at anyone without a year of med surg. I don't bother looking on their website for jobs any more. For St Luke's and for Pocono you can set up email alerts from their websites so you'll see new jobs as they are posted. I've had these alerts set up and there has been very little activity for quite some time now. I had the same experience as you with Easton - your application seems to float away in cyberspace like it never existed - I tried to call them a while back and couldn't get anyone. I think I saw a L&D opening at Sacred Heart (downtown Allentown). Other options: try Good Shepherd, an inpatient rehab network with some specialty units. Blue Mountain Health is a network of 2 small community hospitals in the general vicinity. Finally, there are pediatric home care providers in the area that always seem to be hiring. I have friends working for Luvn Care and for PSA. Best of luck to you!

You may want to consider Grandview which is in Buck's county....a little south of Allentown. Small community hospital but awesome! They have L&D as well as Peds.
