Hi school nurses! I need some advice! I was contacted today by a staffing agency for a job I applied for back I. June for a school nurse. Apparently they haven't found anyone and would like me to interview and shadow! I have subbed before as a school nurse but this is for special Ed program...high needs including gtubes, trachs, etc., they are willing to pay$35/hr...but there are no benefits ( I don't need them anyway) it's hourly so no pay over breaks or summers If the school likes me then they will keep me next year...it's about 40mind away in a poor area. What are you thoughts? Does this sound like a reasonable offer? What other questions should I be asking?!
I'm thinking I can at least shadow one of the other nurses and see what it's like. They would need me to start ASAP. I'm concerned bc I have two kids under 3 at home but in the other hand it will be nice to have the holidays and summers with them especially when they are in school in the future.

If you don't need the benefits, I think 35/hr is a decent salary. If that student population appeals to you and if your child care cost wouldn't eat up your salary I would suggest you give it a try. School nurse jobs aren't often available.
