I am in the process of completing my CNA training. I think its a great start for anyone going into the field. You learn all the basics of daily care. I am going to work as a CNA while in school. Its a great foot in the door plus I think it will give me a leg up on students that haven't taken the class. I will be more comfortable with the daily tasks already.
I am scheduled to start LPN school in January at Orlando Tech. I have always wanted to go into nursing and at 44 years old, I finally have the chance. My plan is to keep going towards a BSN since I already have a BS. I like being prepared for what to expect in the future and after looking at job postings for LPNs it doesn't look great. Everyone wants experience and most of the postings don't give a salary. My questions are:
1) What can I do to make myself employable before graduation? (start somewhere as a CNA, etc)
2) What is the pay range for LPNs?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Since you already have a bachelors degree, have you considered an Accelerated BSN program? I hear they are pretty intense, but it may save you time if your ultimate goal is a BSN.
@debbielee sorry just saw your post. No. I am going to go talk to them Thursday am. At 8am. They have the info session.
Oh ok. I did that already. They were really nice. I talked to them last month and handed in everything. I'm 44 and figured it was time to go for it. I don't have my prerequisites for BSN yet. Was going to start working on that as well. Let me know how it goes and what you decide!
