Would you be concerned if a large hospital has over 100 openings for nurses?
I guess I am wondering if the supply and demand is that low....or if the place is such a Hell hole, no body will work there?

Depends on how large. 500-bed or less, it would make me really nervous.

The average vacancy rate in the US is 10% - 15%. You also need to consider how well-staffed their desired staffing is. For example, a hospital may have few vacancies because it has decreased the number of nurses it is looking for because it has given up and substituted lower-level personnel.
Also, many hospitals routinely don't post all their vacancies because it looks bad. For example, if they have 10 vacancies on a given unit, they will only post 4. When someone gets hired into one of those 4 posted positions, they leave 4 vacant positions still posted -- giving them enough room to keep hiring, but not scaring away people by posting large numbers of vacancies.
So ... you need more information before you can make a judgment.
