I know this question is asked a lot, but needing an opinion on negotiating for more time off. I received my initial offer from a job after almost 2 month process shadowing, interview process. This is standard for the company. The position is 3 days long term care/2 days podiatry only 8-5 but flexible if I finish early and keep my phone with me. I will be on call by phone until 8pm on LTC days. No weekends. The salary is average for my area of SC (3000 more than last job) with bonus potential. 14 visits a day....with call 3 nights a week I am not liking 10 days PTO. I do get 6 sick days but I learned that they may come with write up when I shadowed. How do I negotiate for at least 20 days as that is what I currently have? If they say no should I ask for more salary? Even though call is by phone that's still time I am required away from events, family to be available for 12 hrs day. I will add at any time if numbers increase I could potentially do primary care 5 days a week and be on call.

Demand that the write up BS be removed. That's complete nonsense. No physician would tolerate that and neither should you. You're a professional, not a child. Besides no one can control when they get sick, so you shouldn't be penalized for it. Be prepared to walk if they don't comply. After, you already have a job so YOU have the power.
For negotiations and all other career advice I recommend you read Liz Ryan's career advice articles on Forbes. While its centered on office work, they are valuable lessons for us too. I love when she talks about fearful managers and how to recognize them and avoid this and other signs of toxic environments during the interview process.
Believe me, I've benefitted by reading these articles.
