Hello all,

I was just offered a job at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in the ER (pediatric side). I was wondering if there is anyone that has worked in their ER before or knows anything about the hospital. I am very excited about working there the benefits look great and everyone was so nice and I liked the way the facility looked. Also I am new to Atlanta so I would like any information that you can give me about Kennestone/Marietta/Smyrna area. I would also like to know what there is to do here havent been out much since I moved here, any information is very appreciated.

Thanks,

Dont do kennestone.

I have a friend that works in that department, and she likes it, BUT it is verrrrryyyy busy! Her favorite thing to say is that the patients' are off the chain...reffering to the parents of course. They kind of think they are going to a hotel instead of a hospital. The benefits are great, but you will work for it. ***This is coming from my friend

Kennestone is a very busy hospital, so busy ER also. I have a couple friends that work Medsurg and dont like it.They never have any thing good to say about their units. So if you can avoid medsurg you should be fine. Another friend works in the ICU and loves it!

My mom works at Kennestone. She has been a nurse for 15 years. She likes it. As far as the ER being busy, why would you want a dead ER(not literally obviously)? To sit around on your butt? Heck no. 12hrs goes by much faster when your saving lives.

It's one thing for the ER to be busy because of actual emergencies...BUT children with a common cold/flu, ear infection whose parents choose to bring them to the ER because they won't have to pay a co-pay, instead of bring them to the doctor is crazy. My friend said this is very common because of the type of "insurance" that these patients are on.

Gotcha Island rae. We live in Atlanta where that is probably common practice everywhere. One of my close friends has brought their 7month old to the ER 3 times for v/d and every time they tell me about a new trip I roll my eyes. But there thought is you cant be too careful. To each his own I guess. Tylenol and pedialyte.
