Hey everyone! I have a job interview for the OR next week. I am really nervous because its going to be with 5 people! :/ EEK! I have worked as a floor nurse .. medical for a year and now a surgical floor nurse for a year and a half... so I pretty much know how to care for a patient before and after surgery, and what to look for, etc.. and the OR has always had my interest... I know there are the scrub and circulating nurse... but does anyone know what kind of questions they may ask? For those of you working in the OR, what kind of questions do you think would be important to ask a person? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! :)

Good luck on your interview..It can be intimadating having 5 people interview you..I had 4...Some of the questions they asked me were: can you use drills?, why do you think you would fit into this job?, what 5 words describe you?, they give some senerios..I am trying to think but its been a while..I know they asked me those questions..My interview for them was way different than my interview for the floor..I hoped this helped a little..BEST OF LUCK! :)
Well my interview is over and done with! It was with like 7 people, lol not 5! They asked me some really good questions, and I feel I asked them a lot of questions which I think they really liked, and it showed I was very interested! I basically was asked why I want to work in the OR, how good I am at multi tasking, how I deal with surgeons that are jerks, what I think the job entails, and if I am good with computers and power tools. I then was asked if I wanted a tour, which was awesome and then after the tour most of them had scattered about already back to work, but two that were still near the desk shook my hand again and thanked me for coming and I felt that it went well. Im not going to get my hopes up though, because chances are that someone with more senority or experience applied. All I can do is keep trying, and if they do call, what a nice suprise. I told them that I cant stress enough how impt teamwork really is to me, and without that, what do you have? I told them im also used to working with a small group of people and they become in a way like " family" and I like the smaller specialized settings... I made everyone laugh a few times and they seemed really nice.. if I dont get it atleast I know that they may remember me if/when I apply again! :) Ill keep my fingers crossed!

I just went through that and happend to emphasize how important team work was to me, now that I have the job I was told those two words were what made them want me beyond a doubt.
Good luck and try else were if it doesn't work out.

Thanks everyone! :) The days seem to drag by when your waiting for impt news.. whether its good or bad, Im going to keep my chin up, knowing that someday I will get there, because thats my goal, and what I really want to do! I know that if they gave me a chance Id be grea, but I understand that there may be people out there with more experience, or with more knowledge than me at this time and im ok with that! Id be a little disappointed but ill just have to keep trying! :) Ill post on here as soon as I hear anything! :)
