Hello fellow nursing students! :redpinkhe
LPN school starts in 3 weeks, and I have been desperately trying to find a part time job. I have never worked part time in my life (always full time), and never been constrained to specific times. Now I am and finding it so difficult to locate a job. I have applied as Patient care tech, but I'm not a current CNA (previous work as a CNA was 10 years ago then I became an MA) so that doesn't work. I'm an MA with 10 years of experience ranging from ER to Public Health, but that doesn't do anything but offer up other MA positions, during the day. I am trying for unit secretary positions as well.
Good news is I had a phone interview and was asked back for an in person interview on Tuesday:yeah:, and I'm terrified. It is for a unit secretary in the ER at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. I am only asking for weekend/friday night hours. They have a position but it's only 16 hours every two weeks I can't afford to live on that . I will still go to the interview to hopefully get in my foot in the door? and just let them know I am interested in possibly more hours.
How has everyone else made it through having to be so picky about hours and so forth while in school? I have rent and a car payment that has to be made every month, luckily I live with my boyfriend who is willing to pick up more of the share of bills, but still, he alone can't afford it, and 16 hours a check won't do much. I'm starting to freak out.
I don't want to miss this opportunity because I can't afford to not be working at least 20-25 hours a week!
Scared in St. Louis.

I'm very blessed! My employer is very supportive of me and my crazy school hours. I've been w/ the company for 6 years and attend school part time. Every semester my schedule changes. They've been great by letting me work my own hours. I've even gone into the office on Saturday (office is closed) to do chart audits. Something will come up for you. Good luck!
