Job Hunt: Job Titles and Duties Not In Description

I'm looking for a new job. I have been on the indeed.com website and there are several I might be interested in but since I am new to the area (moved in August), I don't know what I'm looking at.

Occupational Med Clinic: there is no job description/duties so how do I know what type of place it is and/or if I would even want to apply? Why waste my time and theirs if this is something I do not want to do? It is full time M-F either 7-4 or 8-5 so I am assuming it's a clinic/office of some sort.

Any ideas? Should I apply and then just say "not interested" if it isn't what I want to do? Will that "void" my application for other positions from same hospital? They have multiple listings, a few I might do, others I know I will not even consider.

Have you been out of a job since August? My advice is apply to all and take the 1st one you get---if it is not your dream job OK keep looking--then give a proper 2 week notice and move on.

You are a better hire being employeed than un-employed.

NOt to mention your in a better posisition to negotiate if your currently employeed.

Worst case take an agency job for now, you could probably start right away.

No, I have not been un-employed. I was able to transfer within the company to a different location so I kept my seniority, benefits, etc but got a pay raise since cost of living is higher here.

I was surprised that even though both facilites are owned by the same company (a very large corporation), they do not do things the same way facility to facility. Most of the paperwork is different, the actual duties are different and it is just not as "streamlined" as I assumed it would be. The computer documentation is the same but I have discovered I have much more training and knowledge about the computer than most of the nurses who have worked here longer than I have.I have never done a transfer before so really didn't know what to expect.

I have 17 years experience working full time but even I know you cannot walk in the door most places and land a prime day shift job. I've worked days, evenings, 12 hour days and 12 hour nights over the course of my career. I've done peds, ICU, and Med-Surg in the hospital, coordianted healthcare for adult MR/DD clients (day shift office job), worked LTC and done private duty. Personally I prefer evenings but it just isn't working with the family right now.

My spouse used to be home by 4pm to get supper on the table, make sure homework/chores were done and so on. Now he is working 12 hour shifts, 6-7 days a week. Days one week then nights for a week then back to days. We knew this before he accepted the job and we moved but I just did not count on the issues with the kids/chores/homework. They are teenagers and should be able to behave and get it done but they aren't and their grades are suffering BADLY.

My only choice is to find a day position somewhere even if I don't particularly want to (won't leave kids alone at night every other week and might shift messes up my mental health).
