I was wondering if anyone on this forum planned to attend the job fair in Valley Forge / King of Prussia area of PA? I am planning to go, but am not sure if it will actually assist in my getting a job. Wondering what everyones' experiences have been with job fairs and their generating actual job leads?
Thanks!

I would love to attend as well; however, I'd much rather have my license in hand to show any prospective employer or else I fear hearing "call us when you pass the NCLEX" and never being able to reach a HR member....
Good luck though...

Let us know if you go! I'm from out of state so I won't be attending, but if any of the hospitals have anything to say about open positions, please let us know!! :) Good luck to you!

I went there. From my perspective (graduating nurse) - it sucked.
There was one nursing home in VA and one place in MD that could take me (maybe). Everywhere else: "sorry, get experience and call us."
Ilya - you are absolutely right. That job fair was a total bomb for any new nurses. The jobs were scarce and the ones who had jobs didn't want anything less than a BSN with 1-2 yrs experience.
I talked to a few about CNA jobs and they told me once you passed the NCLEX you would not be able to do CNA work, because the scope of practice is different. I can understand not doing RN duties as a CNA, But since when is doing CNA duties out of scope of practice for an RN? I am a certified CNA right now until 2010, if no other job is available, shouldn't I be able to continue to do CNA duties? Am I going to have to make a special resume and keep the fact that I have nursing training to myself to get any job?
