I'm sorry to hear about the delays regarding your job start date. Here are some steps you can take:
Explore Alternatives
Consider temporary work. If the delay continues and you need income, consider temporary or freelance work in your area while waiting for the background check to conclude, and stay engaged. Keep in touch with your new employer to show your continued interest and commitment.
Assess Your Options
Evaluate the Company: If the delays continue without clear communication or support, consider whether this is the right organization for you. A lack of support during the hiring process can be a red flag. Backup plan-Start exploring other job opportunities in case this one does not work out.
Stay Patient and Positive
There are numerous moving parts to an international background check, and it's possible that your employer has requested documents from a third party that have now been received. Remain professional. While it's frustrating, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor can help you navigate this situation more smoothly.
Stay prepared. Use this time to prepare for your new role by researching the company, industry trends, and any skills you may want to improve.

Subject: Follow-Up on Background Check Status
Dear [HR Contact's Name], I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to follow up regarding the status of my background check, as my start date was initially set for [original start date]. I understand that these processes can take time, but I would appreciate any updates you can provide. Additionally, given the unforeseen delay and its impact on my relocation, I would like to inquire if there are any support or compensation options available during this waiting period. Thank you for your assistance.
I am looking forward to joining the team and appreciate your help in resolving this matter.
Best regards, [Your Name] [Your Contact Information]
Good luck to you!

Another thing you can try is to call the place that is doing your background check. I had a similar situation happen to me, I live in the states it was a HH job I was working. I had to call and the State Police were actually backed up which is why mine was late. The job's reason was not adequate for me - it was too vague.

Hi! I do have an offer letter and should start my job last month, but the thing is my start date is delayed until now due to international background checking. I proactively communicate before I relocate just to be sure things go on smoothly and I recieved any further steps to do. Until 2 weeks before my supposed start, thats the time they do my background check, ask some papers to be filled up and etc, and still results are still pending. I ask if there are any support or compensation but I got nothing. What will be my next step? On my part, I did the best I can before I relocate, especially before relocating.
