Hi All,
I have three semesters left in my BSN program and am looking to transition to a clinical role as I just received my Nursing Assistant license in my state.
I just put in for a unit secretary job in a level-1 trauma center that I would love to end up in eventually, but I am wondering if I should be taking a CNA job on a tele or med-surg floor at my local hospital as it may be better experience.
I'm hoping to get an ED tech position at this trauma center before I graduate and am not sure if CNA work on a floor at a different hospital will be better or if unit secretary in the ED where I'd love to be will be good experience and possibly get me there faster.
Obviously a lot of wishful thinking gong on here and I'll take what I can get, but any input on the ideal option would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The Unit secretary position will give you a good look at the flow of the unit, how the hospital runs, unit, Unit culture, teamwork, ect, especially if it's in the ED. If your desire is to work there as a tech it might also give you some valuable contact with management or at least good references that management may personally know, and that's always helpful. However, working as a CNA will give you greater patient contact and a chance to work on some of your skills. It just all depends on which is more of a priority to you, and only you can answer that. (Sorry, I probably wasn't much help.)
