JJC 2013 Spring Nursing Applicants ?

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hello - this is my very first time posting a new topic, hopefully I'm doing this correctly.

Just wanted to see if there are any ladies/gentlemen out there applying into the nursing program for the Spring 2013 semester. We apply the first two weeks of August - and then does anyone know how long until we take the TEAS test? I keep getting told different things, it's confusing.

Speaking of.....Hopefully I'm accepted and can then maybe make some friends. I'm so sick and tired of the people who tell you one thing that's untrue, all to mess with your head and make you second guess anything you've ever known about this nursing program. I know this is a competitive field and all, but sheesh already, the lies and manipulation have been unreal!

Also, I have to say, I admire anyone who has (especially while working FT w/a family) gone to school to take these pre-reqs while not even knowing if you will get in. The stress I have experienced, the stress and torture I have put my family through while leaving 3-4 nights a week after work, to go to school, while not even knowing if I'll be accepted, has been beyond brutal. I wish we could write an essay on all that we've sacrificed in hopes that would make some of the admissions counselors feel guilty enough to just put an approved stamp on our applications :)

Good luck to you all!

I am still trying to learn how to navigate around this sight, so if anyone private messages me it might take a bit to reply :)

And Zamrn, that is fine. We can meet up after registration with you as well.

Good luck with your paperwork...

Hey, how is everybody holding up? The waiting is making me anxious!!

*GASP*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I imagined myself in a big group of girls screaming and jumping up and down in unison when I got the Phone call this morning!!

On October 10th, I posted this update " Hoping to get an "Acceptance" email within the next 2 weeks, preferably (sp) next week.. Only positive thoughts on this subject.. I am WILLING my acceptance in this program by imagining I am definitely getting accepted lol.. seriously... I Am! :p"

Could it be.. even through all the turmoil, distress, depression.. that one Belief in myself, that one Positive thought sent out into the world.. worked its magic.. and came back to me??

Aw! Congrats Katie! I knew they'd be calling you!

Hello everyone, I'm currently a 3rd semester evening student at JJC and would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Congratulations to all that made it! Just keep your eyes on the prize, remember how much you want to be a nurse and how hard you worked to get here and in 4 semesters, you will be there! I think that JJC prepares you, yes there are things about the program that frustrate a lot of people, me included, but that's life! Work hard, READ (for pete's sake, READ) and just worry about how you are doing, not everyone else. There will always be people that do better on everything, but passing, is passing, you all end up at the same finish line. It's the same prize for first as it is for last and no one knows who gets what place anyway! Feel free to ask any questions and enjoy the few months before school starts!

Thank you for your advice! How many hours of studying besides school is required to do well in the program? I believe classes run approximately for 20 hours a week, right?

Thank you Emerald. I have a pretty simple question. Does the nursing department follow the same academic calender as the rest of JJC? I'm trying to plan a vacation and am fearful we'll have some strange meeting or something odd going on during one of the breaks or the end of the year.

Also.......

I know we can't choose our tack. But are people allowed to trade with one another? TIA!

Thank you Emerald. Seeing everyone say enjoy time now I am trying to relax and enjoy before January gets here. Super nervous. Im very nervous now that I made it but having upper class be so helpful is awesome.

Hello all who got accepted! Congrats

My question is, I have been accepted into days, but I really desire Evenings....how does one switch?

Thanks

and best of luck...I can not wait!!!! wooohooo

Thanks so much Ladies! I am beyond ecstatic, I seriously want to take myself out and celebrate, but strange thing is, Life must go on, kids still require raising, school is still in full swing and laundry still needs to be done LOL!!! Hoping in December I can do like a mini vaca for myself and recharge before it all begins!
