Hey all! Anyone apply to the nursing program at JJC for Fall 2012? I just took the TEAS test today....looking for a little help!
I have an overall 3.9 GPA, a 3.6 GPA in the pre-reqs the program looks at....I have a previous Bachelor's degree, am enrolled in the CNA class at JJC currently but won't be done until May....ALL of my pre-reqs are done as well...
My TEAS scores weren't that great, but I'm hoping my GPA will help out a bit. I got a 70.7% overall and a 81% in Reading.
What do you think the chances of me getting accepted are? I would hope that the admissions people will see that my GPA is pretty good and that the TEAS doesn't directly show how great of a student i am

I'm also applying for the Fall 2012 class, so I don't know the answer to your question, but I wanted to say good luck!

I hope you do last time I took the teas test I had an overall of 79% with an 81% in reading; I wasn't done with my pre-reqs but my gpa was 3.5. I just retook the teas a couple of days ago I got an 82% overall score with a 91% reading score; hopefully I get in this time.
Are your TEAS scores on your unofficial transcript? I logged into MyResources and looked, and mine aren't on there yet. How about the rest of you?
I think my hold up may be that I recently moved from in-district to out-of-district, but because I work in Joliet, I would still be considered in-district. I have to go on Monday to give my letter that proves my employment, so I hope that this address change doesn't disqualify me from admission.

Good Luck! I know this next few weeks is going to drag till I find out. Just want to give info so you have an idea. This is my first time applying, which I have also applied at USF. Personally USF is my first choice but the tuition is high so if I can start at JJC to get my Associates then transfer to USF that will be ideal. Anyway, I will be done with my pre-requesites this semester and will complete my pre-requesites for USF this summer. My overall GPA is 3.76 with a 3.9 GPA in the classes JJC uses to decide who is accepted. My TEAS was not the best but I at least had above the USF min. Overall I had a 75.3% with a reading score of 88.1%. I am not sure if that will be good enough to get into the JJC program because when I asked there Paul he said there was approx. 475 applicants. But from what I understand we should know before April 19th because ther is the registration date. Again good luck!

my TEAS scores are not on MyResources yet.....I have been checking constantly!! This is very nerve-wrecking!
Anyone else take the TEAS? Please post your scores :) I am trying to figure out what the "averages" are so far for this round...
I am really nervous that my scores as listed above won't be considered "good enough" and that my GPA won't help me at all! Does anyone know if just because you don't score "high" on the TEAS, they don't even care how high your GPA is?
I also noticed that my "total adjusted score" is MUCH lower than what I actually calculated it to be...like more than 5 points...I don't see that being very fair.....anyone else have this problem?
I got a 92.7% adjusted on the TEAS, and I'm really pleased with that! I also have a 4.0 on the pre-reqs, and the only pre-req I'm missing in HEAL 109 (currently taking it).
I think my biggest hold up will be whether or not JJC views me as being in district. I live out of district, but I work in district. So, according to everything I've researched, I should be considered in-district, but we'll see. I think I'm going to call tomorrow and confirm that my profile has me listed as being in-district.
I had gone to the nursing open house at JJC about 2 years ago. If everything is the same they said they do not accept out of district applicants. From what they had said a person is not considered in district if they work in the area, but for tuition purposes they will consider a person in district if they have proof of working in district. But they said it was mainly because there are so many applicants already. I am not sure if they changed that so the best thing to do is call. You said your adjusted score was 92.7% what was your reading score? When I had talked to the nursing advisor she had said it the 1st thing they look at is the Reading score then the adjusted overall grade.(meaning you can have an overall score of 92% but score lower on the reading and still not get in because others have a higher reading score). Then they will assign points for the classes already completed according to the grade and then review from there. Again I'm not sure if it has changed since so the best thing to do is call.
You could very well be right! I have a phone call in to the Admissions Office and am waiting for a call back. Hopefully they will be able to give me an answer so that I can figure out what's next, whether it be going to JJC or working on going to another school.
I just spoke with the Nursing Admissions person (Kathy) and she confirmed that in-district by employment is treated the same way as in-district by residency! So, now its a waiting game!
Anything new on any of your portals yet? Have your TEAS scored been posted yet to MyResources? Nothing new on my end.
as of april 2nd nothing yet.
