Just recently saw this situation- I'm aware of the rationale for refusing blood products, but logically, I thought it would also extend to organs as well. Thought I'd throw the question out for those in transplant nursing who've experienced this and those with knowledge re: Jehovah's Witnesses' practices for some clarification. Thanks in advance. MMB

This is a conscience decision. Taking an organ is much like eating meat...you can't bleed every drop of blood out of a piece of meat.

You can get more info about this at the only official website for JW. Any other site cannot be counted as the official stand by JW, despite what some members here may say.
