Japan to Texas

Published

Hello to all!

I stumbled on this site after weeks of research on the best colleges to attend in Texas.

I am currently active duty in the military stationed in Japan.....and I'm an aircraft mechanic. Although nursing will be a big change it is what I want to do. I will move on from the Military in November 2016 at my 7 year mark. My wife and I have both decided that Texas would be an amazing place to continue our lives and for me to go to school to pursue my passion.

My question is to anyone who may have experience or anyone who may be in the area. What are the best colleges to attend for a BSN degree?I have found things on West Coast University in Dallas, Texas Woman's University and the University of Texas. Any help would be appreciated.Thank you in advanced

Have you checked out military-friendly nursing programs in Texas? Srsly, if you Google, you'll see that they are numerous. I encourage you to look at the San Antonio programs.... that is arguably, the most vet-friendly area in the state. Even if SA doesn't appeal, I strongly advise you to go with a traditional program at any one of our top-notch state schools. UTHSC-SA is a terrific school (got my BSN there). For that matter, any of the UT programs are great. TWU is also stellar, with campuses in Denton/DFW and the TMC in Houston. UTHSC-Houston (got my MSN there) is in the Texas Medical Center... a very unique setting for unparalleled educational opportunities. Actually, all of these traditional programs are associated with excellent sites for clinical rotations - this gives you a very strong advantage when it comes time to look for a job.
