Hello,

Looking to move to Jacksonville this coming fall. I am currently an ICU nurse, and looking to learn more about Jacksonville area hospitals. I prefer larger teaching hospital atmospheres, where can I take care of the sickest patients? What is the average pay in Jacksonville? Currently in Cleveland and I am pretty sure I will be taking a pay cut...Also, I am a single 25 year old, what areas of Jacksonville should I look to moving to fit in with the culture? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I'm moving to Jacksonville soon, so my husband and I are looking at all the different areas, and wow-- each is so different! From what we are gathering, its very hop scotch.

Regarding pay/jobs, there are several threads on here that discuss that. My own research has led me to believe Shands is the highest paying in the area. I'm sure you'll have no problem finding a job with prior ICU experience!

Shands has the best ICU's (they are the only Trauma 1 in the area), and are probably the best paid, with Mayo right behind them. Shands is a huggge teaching hospital (affiliated with UF) with a lot of room for growth and learning. PM about your first question at the local hospitals.

As far as moving here, I would say you should probably move in to the beaches area or somewhere near the Town Center, like Gate Parkway area.
