J. Sargeant Reynolds Nursing Fall 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone!

I decided to create this thread because our deadline for Fall 2019 is approaching! (May 20th, 2019) I wanted to reach out to anyone also applying for Fall 2019. Any information about the program would be appreciated from current students.

Good luck to everyone applying!!

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Did you submit your form prior to the deadline?

Hey girl - don't sweat it. It's a super quick change you can make. It's always quicker and more informative to go in person to an adviser and change it! I don't think that they are looking closely at that, so just get it done ASAP. I doubt it'll affect your acceptance.

Yes I did, I think I submitted it early spring semester. What is your current program?

It’s Non-curricular actually

Hi all!

You’re right!! I just checked it and it’s changed now.

Anybody have days where they feel super confident and then other days where they think it's not gonna happen? I am feeling down today. I keep reading from previous forums that each semester it gets more and more competitive and accepted Kaplan scores are higher and higher. I'm not disappointed with my score (overall 82, I thought it was higher but I was wrong), but it obviously could be much better and more up there with everyone elses. I think most scores are high 80s this year, so those who are anywhere under mid 80's are a maybe more than a most likely.

Now I'm rambling...I can't believe we have to still wait a whole month more before we know. How's everyone else feeling? ?

I’m super nervous too! I did speak to Robin Shepherd and she said they typically accept people from high 70s but she wasn’t sure of what the scores looked like. What was your weighted average because they look at that number not the overall!

The weighted average comes to about an 82! Reading-91% Math-93% Writing-81% Science-60%. Science was tough for me (clearly) and brought the total at a lower 80 average. I am typically solid at science but Kaplan's section didn't do me any favors except let me pass it. Nothing I can do about it now though...it is what it is!

And that's so awesome you heard some feedback from Shepherd...was this recently or a while back?

I heard they were accepting about 80 students this year but I do believe the Kaplan scores have become increasingly higher over the years... besides the people who have disclosed in this chat, who knows what the scores are? I initially took the Kaplan the first time and got a 73. I showed this to “an advisor “in despair and they told me I could apply as if nothing was wrong with a 73, I retook it and increased my score over 10pts.

Interesting! I did the same thing. The second time I increased it 10+ points which felt soooo great! But now I'm feeling like I am really competing for a spot. I haven't spoken to anybody about it because based on everything I read, advisers are very vague about the acceptance process. I also wonder if we will only hear back by July 1st or if we may hear back before then.

I think we will know on July 1st as a set date of acceptance or denial. I wish I knew how many people applied to the program this cohort. I felt like when I went to take my Kaplan everyone else was also there for the Kaplan.
