J Sarg Reynolds-Spring 2016

Published

For people applying to J. Sargeant Reynolds Spring 2016 cohort of the Nursing School.

I didn't see a group for us at Jsarg. I've got everything ready except the Kaplan Test. I've taken the practice test and get a breakdown of around an 84 based on their admissions rankings. I'm so nervous to take the test because THE ENTIRE admission decision depends on this test!!!

I took the test today. My breakdown was almost exactly what I had predicted. I ended up in the 84th percentile overall.

Reading: 95

Math: 93

Writing: 67

Science: 75

It leaves me with a rank score of 85.6; I'm hoping that's high enough. I dont know why I got so low in Science and writing.

Are you applying to the traditional RN program or the LPN to RN?

I applied to the LPN to RN, my admission score is 77% (sucks!)

I'm pretty nervous about the Kaplan exam. I have been studying the Kaplan practice book from the bookstore but I keep getting different opinions on it actually being helpful for the test.

Can anyone tell me a little bit about how the math and science looks like? I just wanted to get an idea of what i'll be seeing when I take it this Thursday or Friday.

I'll be applying for spring 2016 traditional program

Laura, I purchased the Kaplan book from the bookstore as well.... NO HELP! It was a waste of time and money. The information presented in the book is irrelevant to the actual test. The Kaplan test is a "either you know it or you don't" type of test. The good thing is you can take the test twice with the same exact questions. So if you miss those questions on the first try then you get them correct on the second try. Good luck to you!

Thank you. I hope I prepared enough..just a few questions. Is it multiple choice, fill in the blank or both? How about the calculator in the test, is it available for all the math questions or just some?

Thanks!

All of the questions are multiple choice. The calculator is available for all math questions. Just FYI... About 85% of the math questions are fractions (adding, subtracting, etc.)

That is very helpful. I appreciate it

did you take practice tests online? if so where?

No, I couldn't find any practice Kaplan tests online.
