Ivy League MSN or DNP from a good school?

Published

I'm applying to schools to become an APRN/NP, and I'm trying to figure out my best option. I'm confident I can get accepted into an Ivy League program like Columbia or Yale, but they only offer Master's degrees. My alma mater, Quinnipiac, has a BSN to DNP program. I'm not sure what to do, because I hold a lot of value in those Ivy League schools, even though in the same amount of time I could earn a doctorate. I'm going to apply to all three, but I'm not sure what's the best move for my career.

I've heard that master's degree APRN's are going to have to go back to school for their doctorates, but how far away is that? And where can I find information about MSN to DNP programs? Are there any practicing APRN's with master's degrees who won't be grandfathered in Out there, what do you have to go through to stay certified?
