I've been accepted at St. Pete College!

Nursing Students Student Assist

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone. I begin the Nursing program on days at St. Pete College Aug 19, 2019! Is anyone else beginning this semester? If so, who is your instructor? Mine is ***** and I put in a request to the adviser to swap for Ms *****. Gotta love Rate My Professor. ? If anyone sees this thread and has taken Nursing 1 at SPC, my ears are wide open for any advice you can offer. Well here we go, wish me luck everyone.

**** is well....unhelpful. Under her thick skin she is kind and empathetic and an unexpected way but she will offer you absolutely zero helpful feedback when trying to better understand the content so instead ask ***** at NIP! Also I found it helpful to introduce yourself personally to the instructor (****) and be very respectful, she seemed to appreciate that.

I've heard she is a tough cookie and hard to please. I will tread lightly with her and treat her as a sergeant. Thank you for the heads up.

Update: I'm in the middle of level 2 and were all moving to online theory and clinical's amid the COVID19 uproar. ****** was a tough nut to crack. However she did give me a letter of recommendation for a scholarship which was nice. I had Ms. ***** as my clinical instructor. She was an absolute nightmare. She is Indian and very demure. Soft spoken and sweet as pie. Little did I know half way through the semester she emails me about a mandatory meeting with Ms ***** about my clinical performance. She never spoke to me prior about any concerns or disapproval on her end toward me. I replied via email asking if everything was OK. She was very short and stated we will discuss it with Ms ******. During the meeting she presented me with a laundry list of infractions beginning from day 1. This was 3.5 weeks into clinical's. I about fell out of my chair. Ms. ***** spoke the whole time about the items listed on the action plan as if Ms. ***** was too coward to speak for herself. She had little to say about why she never spoke to me one on one. Needless to say, the assistant dean took care of the situation because after a separate meeting, I didn't have anymore infractions presented to me. The odd thing is, there was other people in my group who were goof offs and took selfies in the facility but Ms ***** would look the other way. So if any new student in level 1 gets Ms. ****** as a clinical instructor, watch every move you make because she will smile and laugh with you as if shes your best friend, meanwhile keeping track of any little thing you do out of line if you are not her favorite. Luckily I passed with an A regardless.

Hi Nurse_in the making, I think your post is the most recent post for a student attending Galen St. Pete. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing you opinion with me about the program the school and so on. I'm getting ready to begin there most likely in St. Pete because COVID has placed a halt on TEAS exams so community colleges are out for now. Galen seems like a well put together program but what are your thoughts? Is it the real deal or does it look better than it really is? I hope you don't mind sharing these details. I also noticed you requested for a different instructor, I didn't realize you could do that so awesome! my first semester I have to retake A&P1 due to mine being outside of 5 years old. Who do you recommend? I hope you are well and any input will be great! Also, do they have you doing clinical's at a hospital with the whole COVID 19, or are you in simulations?
