Ok this might be a stupid question, i'm just so confused but if a patient has 2 IV/hubs with one of them has fluids running and you have to give an IV push med, do you push it in the port on the existing line closest to the patient or the other hub thats free and no existing line or does it matter, either can be used to give the IV push med?

depends on the compatibility of the meds. If the med and the IV fluid are incompatible, then need to use another IV or second lumen (if it is a central line) and flush after the med. If the med and the fluid are compatible, then use an open port on your IV line that has the fluids running.
