IV Meyers

Hello!!

Looking for advise- just took a PD position at a funcional health medicine office to infuse vit c, meyers and glutathione - but not sure I can mix these vitamins per my scope in NH. They aren't "medicines" but I am drawing and mixing into a bag. There are no policies in this office to follow- I come from a hospital background.... any one else in NH have insight?

I Personally worked at an IV infusion clinic when I was an LVN. I was able to hang bags and "superimpose category 1 fluids" (electrolytes, vitamins, and NS pretty much) I could not mix the bags but was able to start an IV and connect it. As an LVN I could not mix so I'm assuming as an RN you would be able to do so. Be careful in this kind of practice because there are often no policies in place or guidelines as of what you can and cannot do. The best advise would be to contact the board for a thorough understanding of your scope, that's what I did. Their wording is often tricking when reading through the scope so contacting them to clarify is suggested.
