IV cyclizine is normally written up PRN and dosing is written as TDS. I find this pretty non specific. Orally it can be given every 4-6 hours with a max dose of 150mg (so it's 50mg TDS).
A lot of the nurses on my unit get confused by this and refuse to give IV cyclizine unless 8 hours has passed (because it just says TDS they split 24h in to 3 - giving them 8 hours). However, if my patient complains again of nausea after let's say 5 hours I will happily give them another dose.
So I guess my question is - what is the minimum amount of time between doses of IV cyclizine?
An additional question - how quickly is the onset and what is the duration ? (I can find this information for oral (oral kicks in after around an hour and lasts around 4h - correct?) but not IV)
