Hello there! I'm a nursing student who just moved to the Sterling area and I'd like to know where I could get IV training/certification & ACLS training/certification nearby? How much would those classes be over here and how long do they take. I'm still not familiar with the educational facilities here but I want to plan ahead. Thank you in advance! :)

You can search americanheart.org for acls classes in your area. The site lists the contact information and you can find cost, etc. from them. There are about 7-8 locations listed in the area. This link might not work http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=3011128&_requestid=62184

As far as IV certification, you might want to check with the VA BON. I'm not sure if that type of certification is recognized by the BON.

Thank you very much. I tried the link, but you're right. It's not working. I'm going to try and call up the local AHA too. Thanks again! :)

Check NVCC. I recall seeing these courses in the catalog for this semester. Not sure what they'll be offering for the summer semester. You have to sign up in order to see what's available.

NVCC in Springfield has them, too -- http://www.nvcc.edu/medical/continuing/alphalist.asp

I used to take my ACLS/PALS/alphabet soup there until the price went to $335. Yikes.

Yikes, indeed! Are all of those (BLS/ACLS/PALS,etc) needed for employment over here? I actually gave birth at Inova Loudoun before we had to move for my nursing studies. The nurses I and my son had there were great! I'd like to work in Labor and Delivery / pediatrics someday. Thanks again...
