It To Nursing..??

I work in IT and I hate it . I work the grave yard shift and I cannot handle it. I have a BBA in Business and working on an MBA. Well I have been thinking about nursing for a while, and my only thing that I would be scared of is having to work grave yard shift bc I cant handle it. Im a 23 yr old male BTW.

Well with that said, anyone who has made a career or started in nursing, did you have to work 3rd shift? I am in GA and wonder whats the starting pay?

I see nursing jobs galore in want ads but very few IT jobs

Specializes in Urgent Care.
Do you know why they quit the IT field? So do you like the nursing field so far? Did you have to be put on a waiting list?

I left the IT field early this year ofter 10 years, just burned out, I'm a network admin and worked for myself the last 2 years, and got tired of dealing with all the cheap a** business owners that refuse to pay bills ontime, quibble about pennies, and complain about service levels (like you didnt get to thier problem they had since monday within 15 minutes of them calling on friday) And IT work is very subject to the economy in 97-98 i moved back and forth across the US at will (seattle to Raleigh and back), but after by 2002 it was a whole different story

I know in nursing pt's and families can do alot of complaining, but at least you get paid fairly and on time and generally get benies. Not to mention the best job security possible. And while nurses can take alot of C**P, you get thank you's too, and can really feel good about what you do. (no slaving away in a dark closet somewhere for 4 days, just to have someone complain that you didnt do something that you where never asked for and couldnt have predicted)

I am on my second marriage and both of my wives have gone through the same school I am in now. My wife and I plan on doing travel nursing together, and in the IT field you generally either travel constantly (week here week there) or never. I really like the basic 13 week contract deals offered, and if you really want to stay somewhere for awhile you can generally renew.

I think the only similarity between the two fields is the constant learning, which appeals to me also.

I was on the waiting list 9 mos (jan-sep) my classmates have waited 6-14 months for entry. I would be very suspect about any nursing school that had no waiting list (ie why is noone going there when everyone has waiting lists these days) if there is a such thing.
