I am looking at an Ambulatory Surgery Position and a Hospital for Special Surgery position.
I have 2 years prior Med Surg Tele experience. I am not really sure of where I want to go specifically, or specialty wise in nursing, but when I am ready to move on to something else, any opinion on which one of these 2 would make the transition easier.
Ambulatory surgery is on a unit where we work with same day surgery and post ops, sometimes pre ops. Orthopedic, Abdominal, shoulder, eye, throat surgeries etc.
Hospital for Special Surgery is a top ranked NYC hospital which specializes in orthopedic surgery and rheumatology, spine , knee, wrist, ankle etc. ORTHOPEDIC is the majority.
they are both surgeries at the end of the day.
If after 5 years, lets say I wanted to move on to oncology or the OR or maybe Emergency room, would experience in these 2 places serve as as a strong background. I can understand the OR will be highly proud with a background in these 2 positions, but truth be to, I have no idea yet where I want to specialize in nursing, I want to start my masters and keep growing but for the mean time, I need to start working since it's been a year and half d/t circumstances.
I can assure you that Im either going to stick through one of them for a longgg time because of the support it provides me, or along the line, my interest will grow an I would want to expand in the field.
Any info from anyone is appreciated.
How either can help your growth, or hinder it.
what you know about Hospital for Special Surgery
Thank you
