Is there any way possible to improve your excelsior GPA?

Hello All,

I've just completed LS3 my last Nursing Theory exam. All of my general ed classes were transferred in from a previous college. Now that I have completed all but the FCCA and CPNE which are not weighted grades; My Overall GPA is a 2.9 which sucks because I transferred in with a 3.5(Lots of B's and C's on theory exams). I know its going to be very difficult to get in to the BSN program of my choice because of my GPA, even though my science GPA is 3.6. I contacted an adviser today to see if there were any other classes or electives I can take. She advised that if I take any extra class it would just be to do it, because the grade will not get factored in to my overall GPA, the class and grade would just appear on my transcript. Has any one heard or experienced this? I just find it hard to believe I can take the class, get a grade, but not it not be factored in to my cumulative GPA. Maybe I can "enroll" in to their BSN program take a few classes to pull up the GPA then transfer, which would probably not work either because most schools don't transfer nursing credits on the Bachelor level. Any suggestions?

Would it be possible to retake a couple of the nursing exams to get a better grade? Maybe the advisor could tell you if that can be done if you explain your gpa dilemna??

I know how you feel. I graduated with a 4.0 with my LPN and now I am barely at a 2.0 through excelsior. If you want to risk retaking the exams to see if you do better that would be the only way besides taking other course. If I would have know how this program was before I got involved I would have gone the traditional route. I take my Cpne for the first time in less than 2 weeks so I am just expecting another heartbreak fail, but I've have gone to long to just give up.
