Is there a UK Pinning ceremony?

My sister in Chicago was gushing about the nurse "pinning" ceremony -- said it is part of graduation and is very emotional and tied back to Florence etc.

I've read a few bits and pieces here about it...

As I'm a mature student starting a UK RN course in September (or maybe Feb, depends on full/part), I'm just wondering if there's anything like that over here?

I dont know about now but we didnt have one when I qualified. Our nursing college sent our college badges out by post, I think they were glad to see the back of us:D

Im sure they'res some type of graduation ceremony now but Im not sure what format it takes.

Hopefully if I make it that far, I will get a standard university degree, or diploma presentation ceremony, I don't even think I'll get a badge, as they don't seem to have been given out in the last couple of years by my uni, although I know that some other universities still post them out.
