Is this true that CGFNS will be phased out starting next year? instead of cgfns exam, nclex will be required..

There are really just a handful of "popular" states that still requires the CGFNS exam and the "phasing-out" of the exam has been on-going already. Illinois being the last one w/c phaed it out last June '05. Don't bother about "minor states" that requires it. Most foreign nurses don't go to the US to go to "minor states".

Try and research the req't of each state you would want to be possibly be employed. If the State BON you want don't require it, there's no reason to apply for it esp. now that it costs $398 and you will have to apply for nclex no matter what anyway to be licensed in the U.S.

Goodluck. ;)

to suzanne or lawrence01,

i have passed already all the required exams except the nclex, my agency said that its ok for me to take the nclex exam at the us, my application for the exam is being processed already..by the way im applying in new york and my papers were approved already by the uscis...my question is, will it matter during the interview? do they really ask for my nclex.

as a nurse, our situation is like a person going to war, we have to be fully equipped if planning to work abroad. if you have still time to take the NCLEX exam, you better take it now! so that by the time you reach the US atleast everthing is already in place. i suggest to take the NCLEX exam in Hongkong or it depends upon your personal choice. NCLEX i believe is between the applicant & the employer, i don't think so embassy will not approve just because you dont have nclex. again this case is just between the applicant & the employer. that's my own understanding.
