Is it true you only need a 60% to pass nclex?

Published

I am a GPN, working in a long term care facility. My nclex was scheduled for the 19th everyone in my graduating class that has taken it has passed. I was feeling brave & wanting to get it over with so I rescheduled for this Friday the 13th. I was speaking with a co-worker yesterday and she said that she was told in LPN school that all you need to pass the nclex is a 60% is there any truth to that? Any encouragement would be greatly appreciated. I graduated Dec 11th, and I have only been studying Saunders 3rd edition I won't say that I do 100 questions every single day but I do questions everyday normally at least 50. Just want to get this over with. Thanks!

The test is designed to get 50 % right and 50% wrong. I would suggest a good read on the NCSBN website and you can find all sorts of facts on the exam, They after all are the ones responsible for it

50% passing above the line of difficulty... with analysis and application questions.

when the test can determine if you pass or not with the 50% then it will quit the test.
