Is there a time limit after graduation when you should take & pass the Philippines NLE?

Published

Hi everyone!

I was just wondering if there is a limited time period after graduation that an individual should take and pass the Philippines NLE or the NCLEX RN?

I am asking this question because I am a foreign BSN graduate from the Philippines, and I graduated March 2014. I am a dual citizen (Filipino and US) and I did not take the NLE. I am currently here in the US, and I have the option to take my NCLEX RN either here in Michigan or in Illinois, that is after completing all the necessary requirements. However, my concern is that currently processing those requirements takes money, and and I am not financially capable of doing it at the moment, and is something I am saving up for. And i wonder if the longer i put off taking the examination will make it harder for me in the future to actually take it? Because someone told me that my nursing degree will expire or will decrease my eligibility to take the NLE or the NCLEX Rn if i don't take it in a couple of years after graduation?

I hope someone can enlighten me with my inquiries. Thank you!

Check the eligibility requirements for the Illinois and Michigan BONs, they may require that you graduated within the past 5 years. It is in the interest of patient safety that nurses become licensed soon after graduation and once licensed they keep their practice current.

I am also a foreign nurse grad. It is better to check with the BON what are the requirements. If you can't see any answers on their website better give them a call. Yes you have to save money for the exams and evaluation of credentials. Like you have to pay 200 in this, 200+ for that, etc etc.. You can do it kabayan! :)
