Is There Part-Time CNA Work?

Published

Hi, I am thinking about becoming a CNA. I am wondering if there is anyone has any experience with part-time CNA-certified work... Is there much out there? Particularly in Southern California.

I'm a community college student but have a light course load. I think I could probably work 20-30 hours per week while in school.

By the way, I have another topic here if you feel like taking a look.

Not sure about Southern California specifically but a lot of facilities offer part-time and PRN positions. You could always look into those -- PRN is what I'm doing now.

Thanks, good to know. What kind of facility do you work in? Or do you jump around?

I work PRN in an LTC facility. Basically, I'm scheduled for a few days a month and they also call me in when they need me. It's a more casual and flexible position than full-time, and is good if you're in school or have another job.

Cool, yeah, sounds like a paid version of my current volunteer job...

Just like turtle cat I can't say for sure anything about Cali. but I know a few nursing homes around by me that have part time openings that are only 2 to 3 days a week working. I also work in Home Care and I as well am averging around 20 hours a week because I don't want to work full time.

Specializes in Locked unit dementia.

If you're thinking about getting your CNA, seriously, do it. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. If you're worried about the job situation, take a look at local job sites or sites for local nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home health. I can almost guarantee you that they need help. Granted, I'm in Nebraska and although we have a lot of nursing schools and CNA's, most places are always looking for more help.

Check out the job sites, look at a program, and do it. It's worth it. :)
