Is my TEAS 6 Score Good enough? Or should I retake?

Published

I just took my TEAS 6 test today. I scored a 72% with science and English/ grammar being the sections that dragged my score down. I scored in the 90th percentile on both the reading and math section. My institution i am applying for requires a minimum score of 58.6% . The Scoring is based off a point system, with Anatomy and Clinical Math adding point according to your letter grade. (if you got a C or hIgher). I am currently sitting at 11/16 points with this TEAS score. Some opinions on whether i shoudl retake are not are appreciated. If i was to retake the test, i would be taking TEAS 7. Has this happened to anyone? if so are the teas test much different from the previous ones?

I think it's all really dependent on the school and how strong the average applicant is. The general baseline score for the TEAS for the three schools I applied to were 65%, but my top choice said the average accepted student gets a 95%, while the others were way less rigorous. I ended up scoring a 92% and got accepted to my second pick. I'd strongly recommend reaching out to your advisor and see if they have any information on the average accepted student score versus the minimum requirement. It should help give you better insight into whether or not you should retake the test. Best of luck!

The specific parameters of your school(s) should dictate your actions. At many schools there will be hundreds of applicants for 40 to 60 spots. In those programs I would want to be well over the 90th percentile overall, and close to a 4.0 on the GPA. Many schools (like UCF in Florida) offer the opportunity to apply to "branch" locations that may be less competitive (if so I would apply to these as well).
