Is "Ineffective Health Maintainence" (individual or family) psychosocial dx?

Published

I need a psychosocial dx and am really stuck on choosing ineffective health maintainence. Have a family that is very close and has good relationships however has been homeless on several occasions, are not eating right due to limited financial resources, and are not receiving regular/adequate healthcare. Would this be a good psychosocial dx?

According to Appendix C in my Nursing Diagnosis Handbook, yes it can be pyschosocial. I also think it sounds like a good dx for what you described but I am just finishing up my first semester so what the heck do I know!

Sounds like the right diagnosis to me as well based on the informative you provided. But I too am just finishing up my first semester, so like the previous poster said "what do I know".

LOL @ heavenbound, it looks like you and I (and probably every other 1st semester nursing student) are in the same boat! I would like to toot my own horn though and say that I am impressed with the level of knowledge I have obtained this semester. My fiance was quizzing me on NCLEX questions last night (in the categories I know anyway, no peds or IV or anything like that) and I knew all of the answers and the rationales. As my clinical instructor always says, from novice to expert! Good luck!
