Is it possible to be a new mom and take full time LPN classes?

Published

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to decide between trying for full time lpn classes and also the thought of becoming a mom for the first time. I really want to do both but would like to hear from others who are a new mom and taking classes. Is it possible or just too much to take on?

Thanks!

Hi there...

I'm a second semester RN student and I have a 17 month old little monkey (er, boy) :) I started the nursing program when he was 10 months old, and I'm fortunate enough to have a very supportive fiance and family to help me out. It is very difficult at times, I won't lie. It's worth every second, but I have been known to study in our garage because my child likes to try to eat my textbooks, lol.

The hardest part for me is, I feel like a bad mom sometimes because I have to spend so much time studying. It is for the betterment of my family, but it does stink when my son wants to play and I can't because I've got 5,039 pages to read. It is doable, but there are definitely sacrifices involved.

I hope this helps some -- good luck to you! :)

I'm sure some day your son will understand when he's older and be grateful you were in school to better yourself for your family. Thank you for sharing your experience :)

No problem! And good luck to you, whatever you decide to do!
