Hello I wanted to know is there any LPN programs in Tampa FL.

Hi! Absolutely there are lots of options. Check out Erwin Tech, Keiser College, or Galen school of nursing. Are you looking for a day or evening program? Erwin is a public school (vo-tech) but Keiser and Galen are private schools so they are more expensive. I have been doing a lot of research on my LPN options. (Time, cost, etc). Let me know what you're looking for :)

I'm looking for something either during the day or at night...Also I was looking at Erwin and they LPN program for this year is full .So I saw that Gulf Coast College has an LPN and RN programs...But I will check out Galen...any more information will help..Thanks for your help

I didn't know about Gulf Coast College. I'll have to look at that one, too. I also looked at St. Pete College and PTEC (Pinellas Tech Ed Centers). Galen looks GREAT but I don't know if I'll be able to afford it.

Yeah Galen is pretty high .. They will be my last choice.Well I guess I will look so more too..

I went to Gulf Coast College and graduated from their LPN program last June of 09. The school has great teachers and a great lab, but the clinicals were hard to come by and some were even dropped right under our feet. They said it was due to being an LPN program and their not really using LPN's anymore. I did the day class that was 12 months, but the evening course is 15 months and all clinicals are on the weekends and evenings (just a heads up) also the cost of the program for me was 21k and finacial aide only pays so much and to where if you dont have good credit you have to go through their loan group that is 15% and you have to pay about 100.00 a month to the school or they wont pass you on to the next quarter. Overall though, I loved the school and the teachers. Just one thing though, before getting out of the program you have to pass an exit exam with a 92% or better even if you have an A in your med-surg 2 class, you will have to repeat. Also they changed it up after the first quarter and that was you need to keep your test grade average in your classes of 75% or better. Good Luck!!:yeah:

Thanks labtecbunny! That's a wonderful post. I didn't realize Gulf Coast was so expensive. Sheesh, that's more than Galen (around $18k).

Yeah it is more expansive then Galen. But at the time gas was near 4.00 a gallon and I did the math and going to Galen everyday and clinicals would have been more for me in gas. I will have to say though, Galen nurses were more respected then GCC nurses, I dont know why but they were. Also Galen has the LPN to RN bridge too. I looked into it after I graduated from GCC, but if I can remember correct, they wanted me to already have my license in hand, GCC just wants to have proof you have a sit date for the boards.

21gs WOW !Thanks labtechbunny

The cost of LPN school sure has skyrocketed since the days when I went

(Vo-Tech) the cost back in the 80's was $800.00 and the organization I worked for paid for that, many facillities will front you the $$ if you put some time into working for them.
