Is being an LPN a difficult job?

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

I have been contemplating on entering the nursing field for some time now and just would like to know is the job really hard? Also, I hear that nurses deal with a lot of bullying on the job from other nurses. This is something that frightens me. I don't want to work in an atmosphere where I am being bullied and talk down to like trash on a daily basis.

Hi AngelNicole,

You may get some answers to your question by reading the threads in this forum... If you want to work in a hospital, you will have a very hard time finding a job as an LPN. If you know anyone who is working as an LPN, talk to her/him to get a good idea of what the job entails. If nursing is your passion, then go for it! Best of luck to you.

First of all I already know that there are very hospital jobs for LPN's. And obviously If I knew someone who was a LPN I would have already asked them what it was like being an LPN instead of being here on this site asking this question to other LPN's.

Angel, she was only trying to answer your question and be helpful. She has/had no way of knowing what you know about the LPN job market.

Coming from someone who has wanted to be a nurse but took a long time to get here, I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made BUT it was my determination & hard work that has me working at all. It is a tough market out there which is what nurse2it was trying to tell you. No matter what career choice you make, you need to know what your passion is to know whether or not you will be successful. You could be successful as a hair dresser on a corner with 2 others, if you were good at what you did & sold yourself as such. Is the job hard? Hum....YES for some & not so bad for others. For me, it isn't so bad cause I had 15 yrs medical experience before going to nursing school so I knew what to expect. No matter what field you choose there will be negative people whom may or may not try to push you but that's when you stand tall and believe in yourself.

Agreed. I have been an LPN for over 6 years. Some days I love it, some days I hate it. But, I am going on for my BSN and have future goals in site. Nursing isn't for everyone. If nursing is your passion, go for it. Never give up on your dreams.
