I got my eligibility for RN exam in oct 1 2024  to sep 30 2025 but I got pregnant and gave birth to my child in march 2024 . because I could not have time to prepare and to take test.  Is there is any way to extend my eligibility for my exam

Congrats on the birth of your child!

When you miss your eligibility window for the NCLEX-RN exam, your application expires, and you need to reapply for eligibility. Here's what you can expect if that happens:

  • Expired eligibility. If you do not take the exam within the designated eligibility period (e.g., from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025), your eligibility expires. Your state Board of Nursing (BON) typically will not allow you to take the NCLEX after this period.
  • Reapplying for eligibility. Once your eligibility expires, you  need to submit a new application to your BON to get a new eligibility period. This may require you to:
    • Submit another application (and pay the application fee again).
    • Provide updated transcripts or documentation if necessary.

Depending on the reason you missed the exam (e.g., pregnancy), you may be able to explain your situation to the board; however, some BONs don't typically grant automatic extensions for eligibility periods. You may have to reapply and start fresh.

The best next step is to contact the BON directly to explain your situation. They can offer suggestions on how to proceed.

You'll want to stay proactive and keep the board updated on your situation. Hopefully, you can work out a way to get back on track!

Best wishes,
