I am a pre nursing student and I applied to start college this September. I need to write the HOAE next month. I am so nervous! My academic advisor told me she hears from some that it is hard and from others she hears it is easy. Anyone share with me their experiences?

Google free HOAE exam online. Algonquin College has one. I took mine 3 years ago and passed the said exam. There's reading comprehension, Math, Bio and Chemistry. I also took Prehealth Science (nursing pre requisite). Goodluck! you can do it!
Thank you! I have to take the test next month. I have a study guide so I will make sure to study lots! :)

It doesn't matter if it is "hard" or "easy". If you want to be a nurse and it is required then you do it. What difference does it make if it is "hard"? Are you not going to do it if it is difficult? You are in for a LONG nursing school life as pretty much everything in nursing school requires maximum effort. Try to not view things as hard or easy..simply as tasks you must successfully navigate to achieve you goal.
I agree! I just wanted to know other people's experiences with the test. It's a test you can only take once so its nerve racking. I have already finished all my courses and they were hard! And I had to obtain at least 80% in each course because it's such a competitive program! I will achieve this goal, I am not one to give up! :)

Hi! I just wrote this a month ago and did well. It was thanks to threads like these that helped me so I figured I'd share my experience. You absolutely can NOT study for this. The best advice is to have a good protein packed breakfast and good night's sleep. Feeling alert and on the ball is essential. The only thing you can really study for would be the science section but the questions are so broad - from astronomy to electrical circuits to biology to theorists that there's no real theme or direction you can even focus on for studying. Work calmly through the questions and prioritze the ones where you can give quick answers and then go back to more difficult questions if/when you have time.
