Is there a hiring freeze with the VA?

U.S.A. Colorado

I was searching for positions with the VA and could not find any positions for an RN. Does anyone know if a hiring freeze is in place? I contacted the nurse recruiter but haven't heard anything in response. It seems nursing jobs are pretty hard to find in Colorado, but none with the VA seems pretty crazy. Searches on usajobs came up empty.

It appears this may impact the entire Eastern Colorado region. I was hoping for something with the clinics in Colorado Springs, but calling them results in a transfer to the HR department in Denver, which results in a transfer to the nurse recruiter, which results in no reponse.

They actually have a few openings for RN in Denver and a few for Pueblo. I didn't see anything for the Springs, though.

I was just on usajobs.com today...Are you a RN? If so, click on the Clinical Nurse. There are a list of bases that are hiring and both Denver and Colorado Springs are on there.

To answer your question, No, there is not a freeze. There are just very few people leaving nursing jobs there. The nursing "recruiter" in HR covers all nursing positions and is very difficult to get in touch with and pretty much just moves paper work around from applicants to managers. Positions are only posted for 2 weeks at a time and then it is a very slow process with the Denver VA (based off of friends in other states testimonials of the VA hiring process). Keep you eye on the listing and make certain you complete all the required steps in the process and be ready to wait it out.
